Jan Koum, the innovator, believed in creating an app where people value information and the ability to efficiently communicate across multi channels. Jan, like many people in New York, was not form a rich family – but a first generation American;
Nevertheless, he wasn’t a Harvard graduate either. He lived with his mom and grandmother in a small apartment. The app of course did not earn it’s success through advertising, but rather through mobile uploads where users had to pay a one time fee at the end of the year. The app serves millions of people each day, and helps connect them with their loved ones.
This simple interface that helps users stay in contact with their loved ones really did him well, and this is yet another success story that didn’t originate from a few wealthy millionaires.
